Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Am I obligated to print my yearbook with you?
  2. No, when you purchase the license, you will unlock the software and be able to print High Resolution PDF files, from which you can send to any print shop or print them yourself. We offer printing services only as a convenience to you.

  3. What Operating Systems are supported.
  4. Windows XP/Vista and MAC OS-X

  5. Can I use the desktop software on more than one PC/MAC.
  6. The software license allows for you to use the program on up to 3 different computers on Yearbooks , however the programs are running independently and not in a network arraignment. The three files need to be merged onto one computer at the end to complete the book and generate one PDF File.

  7. The License is based on under or over 400 students, how are they counted?
  8. A yearbook is generally made up in two sections, the portraits and the “candid’s” or fun pages. The portraits are the pictures taken by the school photographer and include the students information, (name, grade, home room, teacher), and include the teachers or staff personnel. The total count of portrait pictures is how to decide on the size of the software license. The “candid’s” or fun pages are not included and do not count against the license total. There is no limit to the number of pages you can do.

  9. Can I add my own Borders or Clip Art?
  10. At this time that is not possible, but the software has over 200 borders and Clip art to chose from. You can add in your own Image files.

  11. Can you explain the single school/annual license cost?
  12. The software is based on a license which is good for a single year (in this case 2010) and is good until Auguts1, 2010. The license is good for the year for the school that purchases it. It cannot be used for other schools, but can be used for other yearbooks inside that school (10th grade yearbook, 11th grade etc)

  13. Is it easy to learn?
  14. There are extensive help files as well as tutorial videos that cover everything . The software is intuitive and students as well as teachers will easily be able to exercise the software within minutes. it is recommended that you review the user documentation and watch the tutorial videos first.

  15. I have my portrait pictures, how can I upload them into the software?
  16. First, if you have used a professional school photographer, they will give you a cd with the pictures and data in the PSPA format. Yearbooks 2010 is fully compatible with the PSPA format and your file will load fast and easy. If your file is not in the PSPA format, you can use our import wizard to upload your file.

  17. What is the PSPA format, and what if I am not sure about my file?
  18. The PSPA format is the format chosen by the Professional School Photographers Association  to standardize the file format (first name, last name, picture name , grade etc) and your photographer will know this standard.

We also offer our “PSPA” analyzer software , free to download, which will test your file and tell you if the format is correct or if there are any issues with the way it is formatted. This takes minutes and will help you in the import process.
